The latest stage in Soundcraft’s 21-storey refurbishment of the residential Castlemaine Tower block in London has seen all products successfully tested and approved by the Centre for Window and Cladding Technology (CWCT).
During the rigorous CWCT Spray Bar & Site Hose Tests carried out by VINCI Technology Centre on behalf of main contractor Durkan Ltd, tests on a bay of windows and corner curtain walling were saturated for five minutes over 1500mm with no leaks detected.
“Soundcraft products and installation have fully passed the tests for weather performance and efficiency water penetration resistance and signed off by Building Control,” said Michael Bishop, Commercial Manager for Soundcraft.
“Having removed and replaced the tower’s existing windows and curtain walling to help improve the performance of the building envelope, Soundcraft has provided high-performance systems from our Hybrid composite timber aluminium range. This amounts to more than 660 window frames and 1400 opening sashes for tilt and turn Hybrid windows together with 1900 m2 of aluminium SF52 curtain walling installed by Soundcraft at the 21-storey project in Battersea, demonstrating our workmanship and capabilities.”
Production of the Castlemaine project Hybrid systems were managed at Soundcraft’s facility in Kent, working with our supply chain partner Senior Architectural Systems.
