Soundcraft Chairman, Kevin Smith, who along with good friend Tim Green, will set off on June 13th on the longest and toughest adventure of their lives, fundraising for the remarkable charity O2e – Ordinary to Extraordinary.
O2e have raised literally hundreds of thousands of pounds to make a difference to the lives of needy, serious and terminally ill children. For instance, Get Kids Going is a national charity and just one of the many organisations that O2e support. Their focus is to help and encourage disabled children into athletics. They have helped many young people turn their dreams into reality including the remarkable Wheelchair Racing David Weir and Visually Impaired Skiers Kelly Gallagher and Charlotte Evans who all won gold in the 2013/14 Paralympics.
So, what do Kev and Tim intend to do – sponsored swim? Good idea but no . . . Shave their heads? Mmmnn, not a lot of point there . . . . . No, they intend to cycle the 2000 mile Pacific Coast from Vancouver, Canada to Tijuana, Mexico in just 21 days!
At 55 and 49 respectively (Tim will actually ‘celebrate’ his 50th birthday en route), these two slightly portly, middle-aged blokes are currently in serious training to make this challenge become a reality. There will be no sight-seeing, surfing, shark fishing or shopping (save for a little Vaseline perhaps!?), they will simply put their heads down and cycle their socks off until they reach their destination.
This trip is totally self-funded; ALL traveling and personal expenses will be paid by Kevin and Tim so every penny raised will go straight to O2e and their 2014 nominated charities; Gets Kids Going, The Sparkle Appeal, Southview School and Ready Freddie Go! – For more information on all of these, please visit www.o2e.org
Kevin and Tim, both seasoned fund-raisers, are definitely stepping out of their comfort zones for this one – Please help them reach their target and make this a truly momentous achievement by visiting their JustGiving page to donate all you can – remember, all money will go to the kids so you and/or your Company could help make such a difference.
You can view their Just Giving page here. Thank you so much for your support!
